Tsudo 2004-2010 Scion tC 70mm S2 cat-back exhaust: Best of both worlds

Production test fit pictures of our new 70mm S-pipe-back on a Scion tC are in! Made of 70mm mandrel bent T304 stainless steel piping, we designed this system to be the best exhaust in market for your Scion tC. Perfect for high rpm power, 70mm piping has more room to grow for future mods such as turbocharging, supercharging, or further modifying a naturally aspirated engine. With a large resonator in the midpipe and a TRD-style hybrid dual muffler axle-back section, this exhaust controls rasp and has a deep tone while being a fully straight-through system. The muffler is mounted with a slanted outlet for a JDM tuner drift-style look. This exhaust utilizes bolt-together flanges, a flex-joint in the midpipe, and gusseted hangars for long term reliability. While we previously had made a compromise with our N1 catback design to allow compatibility to stock/TRD and other bolt-on axlebacks, this new 70mm cat-back features no piping reductions in any part of the system. Currently in production, this exhaust is scheduled to be ready to ship by March 2011.

New prototypes for Scion tC and Impreza GC / GD

A little update on our new prototypes which should be arriving by the end of the year. Speed-Element Motorsports has designed new systems for mildly to heavily modified Scion tCs and Subaru Imprezas 2.2L / 2.5L naturally aspirated.

Both systems feature 100% mandrel bent T304 stainless steel piping and are TIG welded.

For the Scion tC, a new 70mm catback has been designed for modified naturally aspirated (N/A), supercharged (S/C), or turbo setups. 70mm piping is suitable for mildly modified Scion tCs and allows for room to grow for bigger modifications. The system features  a front flex pipe, resonator, and dual mufflers in the rear. Designed for high rpm top end power, the dual muffler system is also designed to control rasp which occurs when the main catalytic converter and manifold are replaced with an aftermarket header. This straight through 70mm system will also reduce backpressure for turbo systems which will decrease turbo lag and spool time. The muffler features a slash cut tip and is angled out for an aggressive and stylish look.

We have also developed a header and test pipe for the naturally aspirated Impreas. The NA Impreza unequal length (UEL) header will bring out the boxer sound that WRX and STI engines have long had. Our resonated test pipe for the Impreza features O2 sensor bungs for all the OEM sensors on both GC and GD models, which other companies do not offer. A CEL fix is also available to eliminate the check engine light caused by removing the catalytic converter. Straight through piping delivers high rpm performance suitable for high performance and racing use.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T Pictures and Dyno TSUDO SE Cat-Back and Downpipe

Dyno results are in for Speed-Element’s Hyundai Genesis 2.0T Cat-back and Down-Pipe exhaust system.

This exhaust features 3″ / 76mm outer diameter into dual 2.5″ pipes. 3″ front flange bolts to the stock O2 housing, allowing for a future upgrade to a 3″ O2 housing without cutting or welding. Piping splits into dual 2.5″ pipes with dual canisters to keep the exhaust mellow and smooth while still having straight through performance. Downpipe also features a large resonator to prevent noise and rasp. The exhaust is finished off with quad exhaust tips, which are double walled, stainless steel, and slash angled for a subtle but aggressive look. The whole combination allows for straight through performance while keep the car street friendly without attracting unwanted attention from the police.

Tested on a Dynojet dyno at SR Motorcars. Our test vehicle had an Injen intake and blow off valve. No boost controller, exhaust, or any other modifications. Stock ECU was used on the vehicle with no tuning before or after. ONLY the down-pipe and cat-back were swapped for the dyno comparison.

The exhaust showed solid gains in the mid range all the way up to redline. The torque spiked during the run with the stock exhaust which caused it to show higher numbers than the Tsudo exhaust. Once power stabilized the Tsudo exhaust shows a consistent gain in torque. More power can be easily had with tuning to smooth out the power and take advantage of the increased exhaust flow.

+18.45whp / +14.59wtq @ 6500rpm with just a bolt-on exhaust swap

Tsudo 2002-2003 Mini Cooper S Cat-back Exhaust

We are now stocking the Tsudo dual exhaust for the supercharged 02-03 Mini Cooper S. The system uses 60mm (approximately 2.25″) outer diameter piping, into dual 60mm piping for unrestricted flow after the Y-pipe split. Designed with a large front resonator and dual N1 style mufflers, and finished with dual 80mm (approximately 3.25″) outer diameter exhaust tips. Fully mandrel bent T-304 stainless steel for minimal restriction to exhaust flow to increase horsepower and torque. As with all Tsudo systems, the entire system is polished to a mirror finish for a show-quality look.
